What is a spacer?

The glazing consists of two or three glass panes in between which there is space filled with gas. In order to reduce the risk of condensation, spacer bars filled with a special desiccant granulate are used. On the market, you can find both traditional aluminum spacers – cold – and warm spacers made of composite materials.

Warm spacer bars or aluminum?

As it is known, aluminum is a fine energy conductor. Low temperature causes it to create a thermal bridge that enables the cold to enter the room. It can lead to water vapor condensing on the inner side of the glazing.

In VITO windows we include warm frames as standard — composite bars made from non-metallic materials with excellent insulating properties. This reduces thermal bridging and prevents condensation on the glass.
